A non-profit organization, we are committed to improving the daily business commute for thousands of Northeasterners with innovative transportation solutions.
The Rideshare Company operates the third largest vanpool network in the country.
Our goal is to make the trip to work easy, less costly, more environmentally-friendly – and more convenient – than ever.
We began in 1980 by simply educating and informing people about transportation and commuting options, and in 1987 the vanpool program was developed.
By 1995, The Rideshare Company created Easy Street® a vanpool network service that currently operates in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Commuters pay a monthly fee and The Rideshare Company takes care of everything else. From van maintenance to insurance, gas and program administration costs. We can even provide emergency rides, on a limited basis, when you have to leave before the van.
The Rideshare Company has revolutionized the daily commute. Today it is available in virtually every community in its marketing area serving businesses and nearly 5,000 riders every business day.
The Rideshare Company also provides services to:
- Companies and organizations that provide transportation for full-time and temporary workers
- Non-profit and other organizations
- Municipalities that offer services for senior adults
- Private agencies that provide van services for their clients and constituent groups
The Rideshare Company has grown into a commuting force, reducing the number of cars on the road each year by 2,500+ resulting in a cumulative total of:
- 361,000,000 less miles traveled
- 10,000,000 fewer vehicle trips
- 180,000 fewer tons of emission released into the air
- 17,000,000 gallons of gasoline conserved
