The Future is Now

Posted on by Kolbe

The year is 2017. Saying it aloud sounds like we’re living in the future, and at the rate of technological advancements, it feels like we are too. A dash cam video surfaced of Tesla’s collision avoidance system predicting and successfully avoiding a collision. What makes the video so amazing is that the avoidance system is able to see under and around the vehicle in front of the car. Making it able to detect a collision, or identify a hazard, before you as the driver could ever see it. And, if that’s not future-y enough for you, this technology was updated via an over-the-air update to the vehicles’ systems. Now, autopilot and these safety systems are not a replacement for your own attentiveness, but I’d be happy to have it supplement my current driving awareness.
