Gear Up for a Greener Commute: Cycle to Work Day
Every year on August 3rd, cycling enthusiasts and environmental advocates around the UK come together to celebrate Cycle to Work Day.
This annual event encourages individuals to trade in their cars and public transport for bicycles, promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly commuting option.
In the US, we celebrate Bike to Work Day in the middle of May for National Bike Month. We have a great time spending Bike Month sharing about the many benefits of cycling, practical tips for participating, and the positive impact it has on both individuals and the planet as a commute form. Cycle to Work Day achieves the same goal—to encourage cycling and share the two-wheeled love!
Ecofriendly Living Tips for the Summer
Does the summer heat have you running your car’s air conditioner on full blast or buying more refreshing drinks in single-use plastic bottles?
It can be difficult to find an ecofriendly balance in the summer when all you want to do is stay cool. Keep in mind that we can’t be perfect while trying to minimize our personal carbon footprints.
Our organization is all about the power of small daily changes like the daily commute. We’re here to help with some easy daily tips to stay cool while living green this summer!
Global Energy Independence: What it Means for Transportation
For the last 150 years, fossil fuels have been powering the vast majority of the world’s energy. Today, they are responsible for supplying about 80% of energy around the globe.
We now find ourselves standing at a critical crossroads as a world community. How do we even begin to repair the damage our dependence on fossil fuels has caused? Examining the extreme consequences of our reliance on non-renewable energy and exploring our path forward will take an enormous transition to full decarbonization.
With a world effort so profound, there is good reason to recognize a day like Global Energy Independence Day. On July 10, commemorating the birthday of engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla, the message of renewable resources and energy independence is spread worldwide.
It doesn't take an expert to recognize that relying so heavily on fossil fuels cannot continue in any sustainable way. We must evolve the technology that powers our world. The transportation sector is a substantial part of this.

The Importance of Community
Community engagement has always been important to The Rideshare Company. With our organization starting out as a resource center and ridematch system in the early 1980s, we have always had close ties to our local community and the people we work with and help.
Our work has evolved so much over the last four decades, with a large emphasis placed on providing lift-equipped and wheelchair accessible vehicles to organizations that work with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) through our easy fleet program.
The Art of Brainstorming
This week at Rideshare, we’re doing some serious team brainstorming. With our CEO Nanci Fitzgerald taking the wheel in 2021, we are embracing the new era our organization is entering. We have the grand opportunity to grow, shift our focus, care for our existing clients, and build new connections.
With our small but mighty team, the only way to do it right is to put all of our heads together in a team brainstorm session. Notebooks full of ideas and ordering in lunch will surely get our wheels turning.
