Technology grows at an amazing pace. Every aspect of it advances almost daily. Giving us a glimpse of what the future holds in transportation, BMW revealed their Motorrad Vision Next 100 motorcycle concept. The motorcycle boasts zero emissions, and has self-stabilizing technology. The Motorrad concept can even take corrective actions to help prevent collisions. To further aid the driver, BMW also revealed accompanying augmented reality glasses. The glasses would provide the driver all the necessary driving information projected right in their field of vision. Allowing the driver to never take their eyes off the road while seeing things like speed, rear views or navigation.
Using AirBNB can be a great way to find a place to stay while on vacation. You could find yourself at a quaint little country cottage, a large extravagant home, or a local Taco Bell. Wait, what? Yup, that’s right, Taco Bell has teamed up with AirBNB where one lucky winner will spend the night at a Canadian Taco Bell. The restaurant has been fitted with two bunk beds, comfy chairs and a big screen TV. The winner of the promotion will also have their own personal Taco Bell butler to wait on them during the stay. The promotion is only available to Canadian residents however. So if you live north of our border, you can use AirBNB for a chance to stay south of the border while still in Canada.
Let’s face it; waiting in line is something you can’t avoid these days. Whether it’s traffic, a line in a store, or at a restaurant, you’re going to be waiting somewhere. Nissan has been working on technology to help make the queuing process a bit more tolerable. Nissan’s ProPILOT technology has typically been used in their cars to help make their vehicles more autonomous. But they’ve now adapted the technology to help alleviate your waiting woes. Soon when you go to wait at a restaurant, rather than standing in line waiting for your table, you will now sit. As you sit and wait, the chair will move closer to the entrance moving you along the line without knocking into others. Once your table is ready you would exit your chair and it would autonomously return to the back of the line. So whether you are in traffic or in line, Nissan will help make sure you are at least comfortable and in a seat.
Passengers traveling from Toronto to Vancouver last week were treated to a fifty-minute delay while the airline rid the aircraft of some unwanted stowaways. The plane left Cuba and first landed in Toronto. One passenger was stopped when two iguanas were found in his luggage. Having two iguanas in his luggage was not the only problem. The man admitted to having four in there. The other two were lost on the plane somewhere. All passengers had to be evacuated while they got the remaining two four-legged, long-tailed passengers off the plane. After fifty minutes of waiting, the passengers were loaded onto another plane to be taken to their destination.
It’s nice to have a direct flight, but it can’t always be the case. Layovers aren’t necessarily a bad thing, though. You can spend the few hours you have to explore the surrounding areas. Grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant, or see some attractions if there is time. If you’re James Lloyd, (a user of travel site Skyscanner) his flight itinerary had him scheduled for a 47-year layover in Bangkok. That’s plenty of time to explore the city and see the sights. James took to twitter to ask Skyscanner what he should do during his 47-year layover. The response he got from Skyscanner employee Jen was written and accepted with a great sense of humor. Numerous attractions and activities were suggested for his extended stay. The tweets have gone viral since, and no need to worry. People were alerted to the problem so that it would be taken care of, so travelers could look forward to much shorter layovers (albeit still just as annoying, I’m sure).
