Roundabout World Record

Roundabouts or rotaries can be a safer and more fuel-efficient alternative to the traditional intersection. However, a lot of us are used to your standard stop sign. In an effort to bring awareness around the benefits of roundabouts, a Carmel, IN man set a world record for longest amount of time spent driving in a roundabout. He drove 500 laps around the rotary to set the record. The record is impressive, but I’m fairly sure I’ve come close while I’ve continuously missed my exit.

Late Night Carpooling

Carpooling has made its way to late night television. The Late Late Show’s James Corden has a bit called Karaoke Carpool where, in an attempt to make his commute to work faster and more enjoyable, he carpools with a celebrity. The celebrity is typically a musical guest and they sing together the whole way in. The bit is funny, and awe inspiring as you find yourself fantasizing about sharing a commute with one of your favorite musicians. Be sure to look for the bit on The Late Late Show, and let us know whom you would like to share a Carpool Karaoke with.

What Will You Drive Post Apocalypse?

Razed buildings, zombies shambling in the streets, it’s the end of the world and you need to survive. What do you drive? Tank? Sure, it’s safe, but that’s going to take a lot of fuel, and where do you find one? A small, hybrid vehicle? Great fuel economy, but if it’s small, could it push through a herd of zombies? One vehicle option that looks like an asset in the post apocalyptic world is the Tesla Model X SUV. Not only does it have excellent fuel economy, but it also has a bio weapon defense mode button. Yes, that’s correct, with the push of a button the car’s HEPA filters switch to max where they produce hospital level air quality inside the car’s cabin. If you ask me, this would definitely make a good survival vehicle if (when) a zombie outbreak happens.

Spiders and Gas Stations Don't Mix

It is important to practice proper safety precautions while at the gas pump. Discharge any static electricity before opening your gas tank. No smoking. No dispatching unwanted arachnid hitchhikers with fire. That’s right, typically we wouldn’t have to say that, but a man in Detroit did just that. He began pumping gas when he saw a spider on his car. His first thought was to light it on fire. Not only did the spider go up, but the gas pump did too. Luckily the attendant was quick to hit the emergency shut-off valve, and the man was able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. He was even able to move his car out of harm’s way. No one was injured, but the fate of the spider is unknown.

High-speed LA to Vegas

Getting from LA to Las Vegas is about to become a whole lot easier. China Railway and XpressWest are teaming up to build a high-speed railway from California to Las Vegas. The project could begin construction as early as September 2016, bringing passengers from LA to Vegas in 80 minutes. The rail could run non-stop every twenty minutes during peak hours or up to every twelve minutes when needed.
