Power of Ability Night at Dunkin’ Park: A Celebration of Community, Inclusion, and Joy

Posted on

Power of Ability Night at Dunkin’ Park continues to be one of the most meaningful traditions at The Rideshare Company. Each year, this special evening brings adults with disabilities, families, and direct support professionals together for a Hartford Yard Goats game filled with connection, excitement, and unforgettable moments.

As we look ahead, we are excited to share that Power of Ability Night will return on May 28, 2026, once again bringing our community together for an inclusive night of baseball at Dunkin’ Park.

A Night Full of Firsts and Favorite Moments

For many attendees, Power of Ability Night is more than just a game, it is an opportunity to experience something new or rediscover a favorite place in a welcoming environment.

RP shared that this was his first time at Dunkin’ Park and said he hopes to attend more games in the future, not only in Hartford but also in New Britain and Bridgeport. NK expressed how happy she was to be there in her wheelchair, highlighting the importance of accessible spaces that allow everyone to fully participate.

Others found joy in the small details that made the night special. MB thought the sunglasses were really cool, while MD proudly shared that he liked the colors in the Yard Goats hat he bought at Dunkin’ Park. SB enjoyed a classic ballpark favorite, saying the hot dog with mustard was great, and PW loved the noise, cheers, and the music filling the stadium.

SL summed up what many felt when she said she was happy to see so many of her friends.

Baseball Brings People Together

The excitement of the game itself played a big role in making the night memorable. Chris C. shared, “The Yard Goats are a good team and it’s a fun time!” Chris K. added, “I like getting together with my friends to watch a Yard Goats game.” Erin M. captured the energy of the evening perfectly, saying, “Baseball, music and food are fun!”

These simple but powerful reflections show how sports can bring people together, creating shared experiences that build connection and belonging.

Making Memories for Families

For families, Power of Ability Night can mean access to experiences that might otherwise be out of reach. One parent shared how meaningful the evening was for their family:

“I just wanted to say that we really enjoyed the Yard Goats game. I was able to take my kids for the first time due to the generous donation of tickets and food which made this experience affordable for us. My kids got to do their first ‘wave’ at a ball game, loved trying the food, and catching baseballs. Thank you.” – G.C., Parent of Client

Stories like this remind us why Power of Ability Night matters. It is about more than baseball. It is about creating moments of joy, inclusion, and opportunity for individuals and families across our community.
