The tax deadline is right around the corner. If you haven’t done them yet this can be your reminder. If you have done your taxes, and need to pay, there’s good news. As long as you’re paying cash you can now make payments at over 7,000 7-Eleven locations! The IRS announced last week the new convenient payment option that allows you to pay your taxes, and get a slushy both in the same place. It may not ease the sting of owing taxes, but hopefully the brain freeze may help you forget for a second.
We’ve all seen traffic caused by various things. We’ve seen the usual: roadwork, fender-bender, rubbernecking. We’ve even seen the more obscure causes like a stray animal or marriage proposal. But if you commute in the Chinese city of Xi’an you may have seen traffic caused by a plane driving on the streets and navigating the city. That’s right, a plane without wings, driving down the highway. The plane was purchased by a local aviation school for it to be used as part of the school’s training program. Hopefully the students learn that planes typically fly in the sky rather than drive on roads. It’s a pro tip to help you skip all the morning and afternoon traffic.
Why did the chicken cross the road? We all know it was to get to the other side, but that’s not the important question. The real question is, HOW did the chicken cross the road? Well if the chickens in Dayton, Ohio are any indication they not only are commuting green by doing it on foot, but they are law abiding as well. A chicken in Dayton, Ohio was caught crossing a busy street by properly using the crosswalk. The bird was not injured and made it to the other side of the road safely. The happy ending is most likely due to the chicken abiding by the law, and there was no…fowl play.
Distracted driving is a serious problem. There are many distractions both in and out of a driver’s control to be careful of; things like phone calls, texts, the radio, zebras, etc. Yup, you read that right, zebras. If you were in Oakland last week you may have found yourself distracted by runaway zebras. Two escaped zebras from a nearby circus were spotted running down the streets of Oakland. Circus workers were eventually able to round up the two escaped zebras and get them off the street.
It’s no secret we love a good, dumb criminal story here, so let’s get right to it. A UK man burgled his neighbor’s apartment last week. The burglar took the precaution of wearing gloves to cover his fingerprints, and was able to make it out of the apartment with some jewelry and a PlayStation 4. What the thief failed to notice was a bag of spilled flour on the floor. He had taken care to cover his fingerprints, but his now floury white footprints would lead police from the scene of the crime right to the intruder’s front door. If only he had looked down once he could have avoided being caught red handed… or, white footed.
