We hear a lot about self-driving cars, autopilot, etc. No matter how much you hear about it, it still sounds like something of the future. Well, Tesla has recently released a video showcasing some of their car’s autopilot features. It shows their car pull itself out of the garage, be aware of other vehicles on the highway, navigate curves, and even parallel parking itself. You can head over to Tesla’s website to see the video for yourself.
Volvo has long been a leader in automotive safety and they continue to push the envelope. They are talking about having fatality-proof cars by 2020, that’s only four years away. With the continued push towards autonomous cars Volvo feels that the technology is almost there to keep cars from fatally crashing. Even if the car isn’t driving itself, it will have features like: lane keeping assist, collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, and others ready to jump in to keep everyone safe. Of course, there’s only so much the car can do, so it’s imperative to continue to drive safely even with all these safety features.
Long car rides can be taxing, that’s why it’s important to take breaks, and make sure you’ve had a good nights sleep before hitting the road for long periods of time. It’s important to have your cognitive functions working at their best before taking to the roads. One Argentinian man could’ve used another cup of coffee before heading home from vacation in Brazil. After stopping at a gas station with his wife napping in the back seat, he drove sixty miles back home before realizing his wife was no longer in the car! His wife had gotten out to get a snack in the gas station when he drove off assuming his wife was still fast asleep in the back. After the man realized what happened, he returned for his wife, but needless to say, she was less than happy with the events that transpired. So remember, to be rested, alert and aware when you take to the roads. Not only will it help keep you safe, but it could keep your relationship healthy as well!
Tesla has rolled out new software to its Model S sedans and Model X crossovers that allows the car to park itself. The car can pull into tight parking spots like garages or between cars, and it can also parallel park itself. Ever find yourself finding a parking spot, only to realize if you park there you wont be able to open your doors? Problem solved, as all you need to do now is get out of the car and push a button. When it’s time to retrieve your car, the software also allows the vehicle to un-park itself, allowing you to easily get back in.
2016, when we were kids this date conjured images of flying cars and intelligent robot life. There is no doubt that technology is taking leaps forward, but there is one man in Pensacola, Florida that is really trying to change the game. He is working on time travel! Well, at least according to the excuse he gave police after crashing his car through the walls of two local businesses. Seriously, we’re not sure if he thought he was at Platform 9 ¾, but after driving his Challenger clear though a local business he told police it happened because he was trying to time travel. The Challenger is a great car, but everyone knows you need a DeLorean if you’re time traveling via car. Both businesses affected by the crash were empty at the time so no injuries were incurred.
