Christmas just ended and if you were on the nice list this year, you probably got a pretty good haul of stuff. Hopefully stuff you want, but more than likely there are probably some gifts you’re looking to exchange. A man in Toronto has set up a holiday pawnshop for a limited time. You can bring any of your unwanted holiday items and have them appraised and exchanged for their worth in Skittles! So rather than the tasteless sweater your aunt gave you, you can now trade it in for some fruit flavored goodness so you can taste the rainbow. The best part is that all the items traded to the pop-up pawnshop will be donated to charity.
There is traffic everywhere this time of year; on the roads, there are lines in the stores, waits at restaurants. It’s truly a congested time of year. With only a few days left until Christmas, if you are anything like myself, you have to brave that congestion to do some last minute running around. It’s a great time to carpool though, especially when you need to get some shopping done. Not only does it help decongest the roads, but while you’re stuck waiting in lines you’ll have someone to pass the time with. Not to mention carpooling is good for the environment and no doubt will help get you on the nice list. After all, the jolly one is a fan of green transportation. He rides all over the world in an eco friendly, reindeer-powered sleigh.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens this Friday, December 18th and fans everywhere couldn’t be more excited. For some the excitement stems from finally getting to see their favorite characters again. However, that may not be the draw if you live in the Ukraine city of Odessa. The citizens of Odessa are used to seeing Darth Vader around their city. Darth Mykolaiovych Vader (yes, that’s his legal name) is often seen in a full Darth Vader costume about town. This Vader, however, doesn’t command the same fear from citizens. Quite the opposite in fact, Darth Mykolaiovych Vader even ran for Mayor! I’m willing to go out on a limb and guess that Darth Mykolaiovych Vader will be in theaters opening day to watch Episode VII.
An Oklahoma police officer had an adorable passenger the other day. A woman called in a tip that there was a miniature donkey walking along a rural road. The police officer responded to the call and was able to coax the mini donkey into the back seat of his cruiser. The furry passenger fit comfortably in the back seat and was brought back to a safe place until its owner came to claim it. Now the question is, does a passenger like that add an extra horsepower to your vehicle?
Winter brings along beauty, white treetops, holidays, and crackling fires, but what it doesn’t bring is anything good for your car. Seriously, black ice, slippery roads, salt, etc. all make the winter a tough time to be a vehicle owner. However, one Calgary man had the bad road conditions on his side. He watched on as a thief attempted to steal his truck, only to be thwarted by the bad weather. After losing control of the car on the slippery road, the auto thief fled on foot leaving the car behind. The owner called the police and kept an eye on the car from the comfort of his home. That’s when he watched as yet another thief attempted to steal his car again! This time, much in the same fashion, the new criminal also only made it a few feet before losing control of the vehicle and fleeing on foot. For this individual the bad weather and luck were on his side. For the rest of us that aren’t so lucky when it comes to bad weather driving, spare your car the stress of winter driving and join a van or carpool.
